“The Raven” Performed By John de Lancie

John de Lancie takes on Edgar Allen Poe’s immortal classic, “The Raven.

“The Raven” is a narrative poem by Edgar Allan Poe, first published in January 1845, that is often noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere.

The narration tells of a talking raven’s mysterious visit to a distraught lover, tracing the man’s slow descent into madness. The lover is lamenting the loss of his love, Lenore. Sitting on a bust of Pallas, the raven seems to further instigate his distress with its constant repetition of the word “Nevermore”.

Watch the superb performance of de Lancie in the video below, but preferably don’t do it before going to sleep…

Bravo!! You’re amazing no matter what you do. :)

  2. I’m speechless. You have such passion in your voice, such torment in your eyes, you -became- Poe. If you ever look back at this site again and see this reply, please note I would be honored and deeply pleased to do a collaboration.
    Most sincerely,

Awesome reading!!! Standing ovation!!!! I love Poe, and being an English Major (or trying to be, for now, for another year) I love this kind of reading! Makes much more sense than Gertrude Stein, and the perfect reading for a Halloween party. Thanks for sharing, loved “Star Trek,” “Star Gate,” and all of your other performances, you are an amazing actor hope to continue to see lots more of you until your 90, then we’ll talk. :)
